The Hamlet Town Board members went over the proposed budget for 2012 at their recent meeting. The proposed budget total for all funds is $408,178. The members cut five percent from last year’s budget. For the fourth year in a row, no pay increases were given.

The Board also discussed the amended trash ordinance. Beginning with the November billing, the new garbage pickup rate will be $10.68. This new rate will be applicable throughout 2012 as well. Two containers will be given to customers – one for regular garbage and one for recyclable items. Garbage pickup dates and times will not change.

The Board appointed Frank Lonigro III as the Town Marshal and approved a contract with DC Tech solutions. DC Tech solutions will be placing an antennae on the old water tower and will provide free unlimited high speed internet service to town owned buildings. The company will also maintain the town’s website for three years. The Board felt that this is a huge cost saving transaction and will be a benefit to all employees.
