The Town of Culver will be applying for a grant for a water utility study to locate and resolve issues in their water system. A total of at least eight letters have been received by the town council regarding water issues, and a water utility study would allow the town to identify and fix any problems with the water.

“We’re going to do a planning study which is where an engineering firm comes in and studies the water flow, the pressure, and investigates why there are issues, and that takes us to the next level of how we resolve those issues,” said Michelle Scudder of Priority Project Resources. Scudder presented and explained the application to the council.

A planning study for a single utility, such as water, can be no more than $30,000, including engineering fees and grant administration fees and would require a local match of $4,000 from the town. The council approved the application and will be collecting different documents that are required to submit to the state.

“We’re hopeful to submit the grant application at the end of the month, and then we should know something by the end of August,” said Scudder.
