Starke County Economic Development Foundation Director, Charles Weaver, says no new information has been received regarding the Sysco project in Hamlet, but Weaver says he is in contact with the Baugh North Central Redistribution Center about any developments that may occur.

Adam Broeker, 27, of Culver, died after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Friday in Lake County.

LaPorte City Police officers arrested Robert Reed of LaPorte on May 27th after a brief vehicle pursuit. He faces charges by the City Police and charges from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department that stem from an ongoing theft investigation. He is being held in the LaPorte County Jail on pending charges on Starke County after an incident that he was involved in in San Pierre.

Jeffery Adams, 36, of Monon, was arrested on May 27th and charged with Burglary and Theft after Pulaski County police arrested him on suspicion of breaking into the Ace Hardware store in Winamac three times and stealing electronic items.

Kelly Patterson was arrested after a couple found her sleeping on their couch in their home in Star City. She was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia and Residential Entry.

The staff at the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and the general public attended a Sheriff’s Memorial Tuesday to remember and honor the three officers who were killed in the line of duty while employed at the Sheriff’s Department.

Gas prices jumped to $4.15 this week after a leak in a major pipeline servicing the Midwest forced the whole pipeline to shut down which caused the spike in prices. Issues at refineries in the past two weeks also contributed to the gas price hike.

Thomas H. Morin filed on the Republican ballot for the Knox City Council District 1 seat. He will face Democrat Don Kring in the General Election.

Knox City and Starke County Police are looking for a suspect involved in an attempted kidnapping around Roosevelt Road in Knox yesterday. If you know anything about this incident, leave an anonymous tip with police.

Derrick Dilts has filed a report with the FAA and Woolpert Airport Consultants that notes several alleged discrepancies with the Environmental Assessment for the Pulaski County airport expansion project.

The Monterey Elementary School closed its doors Thursday. The students boarded school buses and were led around town by the fire department as a farewell activity.
