Gas Prices Jump

Gas prices jumped Wednesday. Gas prices that were in the $3.80 range Tuesday were up to $4.15 Wednesday. A leak in a major pipeline servicing the Midwest has forced the whole pipeline to shut down which has caused the spike in prices.

TransCanada’s Keystone pipeline running from Alberta was completely shut down. There was no estimate yesterday as to when it will be repaired. A spokesperson for Keystone said the pipeline pumps 591,000 barrels a day from Hardisty, Alberta to Cushing, Oklahoma. The leak was at a Kansas Pumping Station. Faulty fittings were blamed for the leak.
