Incidents:
04/3011 The North Judson Police Department investigated a battery complaint in the 400 Block of E. Talmer Avenue involving juveniles. After all the subjects were interviewed by Police, a complete report was furnished to both the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office and Juvenile Probation for charges. One young boy did sustain minor medical injuries.

04/28/11 North Judson Police responded to a found debit card in the Subway Parking lot. The card was returned to the owner without incident.

05/01/11 Nicholas Brad Harper, 27, Wheatfield, IN arrested preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Driving While Suspended.

04/27/11 Wade A. Fletcher, 18, North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Illegal Possession of Alcohol by a Minor.

04/26/11 James R. Ringer, 39, Monterey, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Theft and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

04/24/11 Mark A. Fata, 43, North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana and Public Intoxication.

04/24/11 Sandra A. Berg, 50, North Judson, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Driving While a Habitual Traffic Violator.

Incidents:
04/30/11 A Winamac resident called police to report that a NIPSCO service man pulled his gas meter. The meter was pulled because his home was surrounded by water and it was pulled for safety issues. Resident was notified that the gas will be turned on when the water recedes. Subject was verbally upset with the NIPSCO service man and with police when confronted about the meter.

04/30/11 A Winamac resident reported that his brother stole his vehicle while it was stored at his residence.

04/30/11 A Winamac resident reported that her mailbox was demolished as well as several others down the road in the area of Smeltzer’s Division.

04/30/11 A Winamac resident reported that he left his scooter at his aunt’s house and she may have sold it to his brother. It is a black Honda “Elite” with baby blue rims and there is a crack around the front reflector.

04/30/11 A resident in Franklin Township reported that kids playing football hit a lady’s vehicle and the lady is irate.

04/29/11 A Winamac resident reported the theft of a camcorder.

04/28/11 A Winamac resident reported a break-in at a home. One of the owners called police to say he might know who took some items from the home.

04/28/11 A Winamac business called police to report a break-in. The action was caught on tape and the person responsible could be identified.

04/27/11 The owner of the mini storage unit across from the Monterey Elementary School reported a break-in. The door was ripped off and the items were gone. The owner of the rental unit called police to report the same incident a little while later.

05/01/11 Devin E. Trusty, 28, 2935 W. 1300 W., Medaryville, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant. Discharged 05/01/11

05/01/11 Joseph Liebner, 57, 3425 N. 450 W. Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication.

04/29/11 Joseph McKeehan, 27, 3700 E. Debby Dr., Knox, IN, arrested on a small claims warrant. Discharged 04/29/11

04/28/11 William Warren, 53, 3066 N. 300 W., Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Receiving Stolen Property. Discharged 04/28/11

Watch for Social Security Scam!

Recently, an elderly women reported to the North Judson Police that someone called her residence claiming to be from the Social Security Administration requesting her social security number for the purpose of issuing her a new card.  In order to process the claim, the caller requested her bank account numbers. In this case, the women was pressured into providing the numbers and after realizing what she had done contacted the police and the SSA, as well as her local bank, canceling her account.

“Never provide your social security number or any bank account information to anyone calling you, and be sure you are dealing with a legitimate company when you do business over the phone or internet,” said North Judson Police Chief, Doug Vessely.  “If someone claims to be from your bank, the SSA, IRS, or the cable company and requests your account numbers, never give them out. They should already know the number. Be on the alert at all times and when in doubt, don’t provide the information to be cautious. Always call police immediately if you believe any account has been compromised. Be safe.”

Incidents:
05/02/11 Sarah Pick and Steve Berndt were witness to soemone keying Pick’s vehicle on Main Street. Three scratches were made on the passenger door of her truck. There is a suspect in the case.

05/01/11 Glenden Wilke reported that some unknown person(s) entered her vehicle and took a telephone book with personal phone numbers in it and the garage door opener to her garage.

04/30/11 Renee Markovitz reported that some unknown person(s) entered her back yard and threw all her patio furniture chairs all around the yard. Damage was caused to one of the chairs. Panel boards on her panel wooded fence had been broken out on the east and west side of the fence areas. A plastic bird bath had also been destroyed.

04/27/11 An employee at Osborne’s Mini Mart reported a gas drive off in the amount of $25.91.

04/26/11 Sammy Smith reported an unsecured door at the old Backstage Music building on Washington Street in Knox. The reporting officer noted in his report that there was notable damage to the door and it was standing open. The keyholder could not be contacted at the time of the report.

04/26/11 It was reported by Mike Burns of Knox that several cars on the lot at Best Ford had keys in the doors and one car was running. When he and his wife were walking by and noticed that keys were in the driver’s side doors. The reporting officer gathered the keys and secured 14 vehicles and also secured four other vehicles that did not have keys. The owner was advised of the situation.

05/03/11 Jack Royce, 26, 8910 E. 25 N. Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Theft, Criminal Mischief and Public Intoxication. He was arrested after allegedly trying to break into vehicles by the Starke United building.

05/02/11 A juvenile was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

05/01/11 James Watts, 33, 1695 W. 400 S., North Judson, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

04/30/11 Jeffery Nelson, 42, 403 S. Main St., Knox, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant.

04/27/11 Tammora Shei, 45, 601 S. Heaton St., #3, Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Public Intoxication and Trespassing.

04/27/11 Charlotte Rupert, 24, 3030 S. US 35 Lot 614, Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Public Intoxication and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor.
Bruce Wireman, 19, 624 Forest PL. #3D, Culver, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Illegal Possession.

04/26/11 Clark Clemons, 59, 707 E. St. Louis St., Knox, IN arrested on a preliminary charge of Invasion of Privacy.

Incidents:
05/01/11 James, who lives in the 1900 block of W. 700 S., in North Judson, reported that his house and garage were broken into and items were taken.

05/01/11 A resident in the 5100 block of S. Elm Dr., in Knox reported the theft of a firearm.

04/30/11 A caller reported that the barricade on Range Road and 100 West was moved and 4-wheelers and 3-wheelers are running up and down on that road.

04/29/11 An employee at Next Door Foods reported the theft of $15 in gas.

04/29/11 A resident found a meth lab dump site while out hunting mushrooms in the 5500 block of S. 50 E. in Knox.

04/28/11 Casey Woods told police that some unknown person(s) broke out a window to his vehicle and stole items from the vehicle.

04/27/11 A resident was out hunting mushrooms in the area of 450 S. and Round Lake and found a meth lab dump site.

04/27/11 A Walkerton resident reported a fraudulent check from Chase Bank that was received in the mail.

04/27/11 a resident in the 700 block of S. 300 E. in Knox reported that a pole barn has been broken into.

04/27/11 A resident notified police that a suspicious vehicle was parked on the west side of 700 E. just past the monastery and the caller believes that subjects are taking items from the property and scrapping them.

04/26/11 A resident that lives across from the old Grovertown school on State Road 23 said that there is school bus that has been parked behind the locked gates all winter and now the lights on the bus are flashing on and off.

04/26/11 Steve Siddall from the Starke County Highway Department notified the County that 900 East between 550 South and 625 South will be closed due to high water.

04/30/11 Christopher Lamb, 20, of Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Marijuana.

04/27/11 Rustand Radkiewicz, 23, Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

04/26/11 Christina Moore, 23, South Bend, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Invasion of Privacy.
