Turkey Tracks Event is Scheduled for April 29th-May 1st, 2011

Eric Corey

At the young age of 16, Eric Corey was diagnosed with ALS. An avid hunter his entire life, the Starke County resident has made it his mission to make sure other young adults with mobility challenges like him can experience the joy of hunting. That’s why he and his family have organized Turkey Tracks. The event allows hunters with physical challenges to use adaptive equipment and the help of a guide to experience a turkey hunt in Northern Indiana.

This is the third year for Turkey Tracks.

“The first year, we had ten kids,” said Carol Corey, Eric’s mother. “Last year, we decided to make a foundation for Eric and call it Turkey Tracks Hunt Eric Corey Foundation. So, last year we had 17 hunters and this year, we are up to 30. I can’t believe we have 30 hunters! They are from all over Indiana, and actually, one is from Wisconsin and three are from Kentucky.”

The Turkey Tracks weekend is April 29th through May 1st and if you can help by making a donation to the cause please do so. They need to cover the costs of lodging and licenses, and purchasing adaptive equipment and other expenses. If you are an avid hunter you could also donate your time as a guide or volunteer during the event.
