Incidents:
04/17/11 A Winamac resident reported that someone tried to break into her home,. The screen was out of the window and the thermometer was moved. They didn’t enter the residence as the inside window was locked.

04/17/11 A Star City resident called police to report that a garden hose is hanging from an anhydrous ammonia tank at 625 E. and 450 S. The tanks were not leaking. A similar call was reported in Indian Township.

04/16/11 A caller in Cass Township reported that there was a domestic dispute in front of CPS involving a mam and woman. The woman was reportedly trying to hit the man with her van while the man was walking down the street. The woman left and then came back and tried to hit the man again with her car.

04/15/11 A Winamac business reported the theft of $69.75 in gas. The suspect was contacted and she will be back to the business to pay the money.

04/15/11 A Monterey resident reported that his car door swung open and hit another vehicle. The caller believes that there is more than $1,000 in damage.

04/14/11 The Monterey Tippecanoe Township Fire Department was called to assist the Bass Lake Fire Department in battling a grass fire headed toward a residence.

04/14/11 A structure fire was called in from a home in Winamac. Everyone was out of the house at the time of the call and no one was injured. The Winamac Fire Department was called to the scene.

04/13/11 A North Judson caller reported that someone broke into a barn on the property. The front door to the residence was kicked in also.

04/13/11 A minor jail fight was reported.

04/12/11 A Winamac resident told police that her prescription medication was stolen out of her vehicle.

04/12/11 A Denham resident told police that her backyard is on fire. The fire department was called to the scene.

04/12/11 A resident in Beardstown resident reported that someone has burned down his pine trees.

04/17/11 Gary Marshall, 56, 6941 N. 800 W., Winamac, IN, arrested on an active Federal ATF warrant. Discharged 04/18/11

04/15/11 Howard Mitchell, 38, 6055 Woodharst, Conway, IN, arrested on a small claims warrant. Discharged 04/15/11

04/13/11 Guy Harlan, 21, 317 E. 13th St. Apt. 8, Winamac, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication. Discharged 04/14/11

04/13/11 Michael J. Campbell, 27, Chesterton, IN, arrested on a warrant for Failure to Appear.

04/12/11 Brandon Williams, 27, 6582 S. 1400 W., Francesville, IN, arrested on an active arrest warrant. 04/12/11

04/11/11 Ashley Whitaker, 24, 821 E. 250 N., Winamac, IN, arrested on a small claims warrant. Discharged 04/11/11

Incidents:
04/15/11 The North Judson Police were informed of a theft of a 2009 Black Yamaha Moped from the 300 block of Main Street. The moped was taken sometime between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. from the apartment complex. Anyone with information of the the theft or the whereabouts of the moped is asked to call the North Judson Police Department at (574) 772-5914.

04/11/11 North Judson Police and the North Judson Wayne Township Fire Department responded to a truck that had struck live wires from a utility pole on Talmer Avenue near Ufkes Drive. The wire was hanging low due to an earlier storm and a branch striking the wire. A semi truck went through the area and pulled the wire down. Starke EMS was on scene as well. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about the recent break-in at Ray’s Super Foods in North Judson is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers. Rays had offered a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. 04/12/11 – Clayton E. Hale, 24, 601 Keller Ave., North Judson, arrested on a preliminary charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

04/11/11 – Roy E. Anderson, 39, Mishawaka, IN, arrested on Starke County Body Attachment for Child Support.

Incidents:
04/14/11 The Starke County Sheriffs Department received a 911 call of three males in a white car circling the Hamlet gas station. The caller had heard one of the male subjects say something about a gun and a possible robbery. Officers responded and arrived just after the male subjects had left the gas station. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle. The vehicle described was located two days later and was occupied by one of the male subjects from the night in question. No charges have been filed at this time.

04/13/11 Marilyn Cunningham reported continuous problems with her neighbor’s dog. Officers responded and spoke with both subjects.

04/13/11 Dean Goble reported the theft of a bicycle from 109 Madison Street. Officers have recovered his bike and returned it to him.

04/13/11 Joshua Baugh reported a bike that had been stolen the night of the 12th from 504 N. Starke St. An investigation is still pending.

Arrests:
04/16/11 Jenny Keeton of Hamlet was arrested on a preliminary charge of Driving While Suspended-Prior.

04/15/11 Freeman Spelts and Tracy Gaideski were arrested at the Holloway Motel and have preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Endangering a child.

Incidents:
04/15/11 Cameron Clark reported the theft of a weed eater and a hedge trimmer from his shed. Some unknown person(s) unlocked his shed and stole the items. The told police that this is the third time that someone has taken things from his residence.

04/15/11 Rosie Rose reported her truck stolen from her workplace on Lake Street. It is a tan 1993 Chevy pickup truck.

04/14/11 Przemyslaw Gruszczwnski of Knox reported the theft of gasoline from his vehicles. About five gallons have been stolen. The thefts have occurred over a months time.

04/14/11 Greg Hatfield reported the theft of a baseball cap. He was reportedly battered by the accused later that evening.

04/14/11 Arron Trotter reportedly stepped in front of a vehicle driven by Brittany Rudd in Wythogan Park and she stopped. He attempted to talk to her and she reportedly stepped on the gas and in order to avoid getting hit, he jumped on the roof of her car. He had a minor knee injury.

04/13/11 Heaven Cain reported the theft of her wedding ring.

04/17/11 Michael T. Dalton, 510 S. Shield St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Driving While Suspended-Prior. He was cited for expired license plate and no insurance.
Denise Dalton, 45, 510 S. Shield St., Knox, IN, arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant out of Marshall County.

04/15/11 Erik Draper, 33, 1000 E. Washington St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and an active arrest warrant.

04/14/11 James Smyers, 44, 412 W. Madison St., Culver, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana under 30 Grams and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

04/14/11 Aaron Armes, 37, 7780 E. 50 S., Knox, IN, arrested on two Failure to Appear warrants out of Marshall County.

04/14/11 Danielle Lardino, 704 S. Portland St., Knox, IN, arrested on an arrest warrant for Receiving Stolen Property, a D Felony and Conversion, a Class A Misdemeanor.

4/14/11 Linda Wireman, 27, 308 E. John St., Knox, IN, arrested on Failure to Appear warrants through Starke County Circuit Court on five counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, D Felonies.

04/13/11 Dennis Bunch, 22, 201 N. Main St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Disorderly Conduct.
Amy Cooke, 29, 2065 N. 1200 E., Plymouth, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Disorderly Conduct.
Christopher Lamb, 20, 311 Ruthie Dr. #B4, Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Disorderly Conduct.
Three juveniles were also taken into custody for Disorderly Conduct.
Police were called to the intersection of Culver Road and Main Street for a confrontation involving several people and it was getting out of hand.

04/13/11 Francisco Esparza, 23, 3860 S. 300 E. #B, Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Disorderly Conduct and Battery.

04/13/11 Michael Daulton, 50, 510 S. Shield St., Knox, IN, arrested on a preliminary charge of Theft. He allegedly stole electric from NIPSCO and the Knox Water Department by turning on the meters after they were shut off. He allegedly bypassed the electric meter.

04/14/11 Edward Smith, Jr, 18,.2120 E. 400 S., Knox, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana over 30 Grams and Reckless Driving. He was cited for no seat belt. The K9 helped recover a glass mason jar full of what tested positive as marijuana.

04/13/11 Seth Draper, 30, 1000 E. Washington St., Knox, IN, arrested on active arrest warrants for Non-Support of a Dependent.

04/16/11 A resident reported her vehicle stolen from US 30 and US 35.

04/16/11 Mike Childers reported vandalism to his mailbox.

04/15/11 A resident in the 1200 block of N. 1025 E. in Knox reported that someone broke into his garage while he was on vacation.

04/14/11 A resident in the 3500 block of W. 800 S. in North Judson reported that batteries were stolen out of equipment.

04/14/11 Elaine Bruhn reported the theft of items from a rental home.

04/14/11 A resident in the 3900 block of S. Boa Dr. in Knox reported the theft of a wallet and jacket from a vehicle.

04/13/11 Harry Tolson requested an officer for a theft report. Some items were stolen off his truck.

04/13/11 Ashley Jacobs told police that someone broke into her minivan and stole an Xbox, and PS3.

04/13/11 Vurtice Albright reported the theft of a firearm from his vehicle.

04/13/11 A resident in the 100 block of N. Pearl St. in Knox reported the theft of a firearm.

04/12/11 Estella Perez told police that someone used a screwdriver to open her car window and stole her purse out of her vehicle.

Arrests:
04/17/11 Michael Handley, Jr., 26, 2569 S. State Road 39, North Judson, IN, arrested on preliminary charges of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

04/15/11 Six individuals were arrested after police found illegal meth labs in the Holloway Motel in Starke County. Mathew Schoff, Cheryl Paschen and Kimberly Hurley face preliminary charges ranging from Manufacturing Methamphetamine to Possession of Paraphernalia. Freeman Spelts and Tracey Gaideski have preliminary charges ranging from Neglect of a Dependent and Possession of Methamphetamine to Possession of Precursors and Paraphernalia. Timothy Clark has a preliminary charge of Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Accidents:
04/19/11 Victor Puntus, 56, of Blue Island, Illinois was traveling in his semi going north on US 421 He moved in his lane and checked on oncoming traffic. He came back over to his driving lane and started to slide. He went off the road and down into the ditch, laying the semi on its side. He wasn’t injured in the incident. The total estimate of all damage in the crash was $10,000-$25,000.
