Absentee Voting Available for Three More Days; BMV to be Open for Voter Identification Cards

Voters in precincts 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Center Township have a chance to vote absentee today and tomorrow from 8:00 a.m. to Noon and from 1:00-4:00 p.m. CT in the Starke County Courthouse. The final time to vote absentee will be Monday, May 2nd, from 8:00 a.m. to Noon only. Election Day is Tuesday, May 3rd. The polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and voting will be conducted in the Knox Community Center.

Starke County Clerk, Evelyn Skronski, said that she has received 69 absentee votes in her office and 50 votes by mail. The travel board has collected approximately 20 votes so far.

BMV License Branches will extend hours of operation on Monday, May 2nd and on Tuesday, May 3rd to issue state ID cards and driver’s licenses that may be used for identification at a polling place. Branches in counties with Primary Elections, including Starke County, will be open on Monday, May 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 3rd from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. To insure voters have immediate access to services, license branches in Knox will only process ID cards and driver’s licenses.

Nineteen Indiana counties, including Pulaski County, will not have elections this May. The license branch in Winamac will be closed on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Proper identification is needed to cast your important vote on Election Day.
