North Judson-San Pierre Academic Decathlon Team Headed to State Finals

For the sixth time in seven years, the North Judson-San Pierre Academic Decathlon team has qualified for the State Finals in the Small School Division. The NJ-SP competitors scored 25,314.9 points, earning the Blue Jays a 10th place finish in State rankings and the last qualifying spot. The team will compete in the State Finals on Friday and Saturday, February 11th and 12th, at Purdue University in West Lafayette.

Answering questions about The Great Depression, the NJ-SP Academic Decathlon Team finished in fifth place in the Area Academic Conference Decathlon competition at Kankakee Valley High School on Saturday, January 22. The team placed third in the Oral Super Quiz.

Individual medalists were Jennifer Atkinson with a gold medal in Language & Literature, a silver in Speech and bronze in Essay and Art; Rhiannon Millard with a bronze in Art; Sarah Green with a bronze in Music; Jake Kieszkowski with a silver in Music and bronze in Social Science and Speech; Hope Harlamert with a silver in Speech; Steven Miller with a gold in Mathematics, a silver in Music, and bronze in Language & Literature and Social Science; and Lucas Howard with a gold in Language & Literature and a bronze in Art. Jennifer Atkinson achieved the top score for the team with 5,258 points.

Third place Overall Individual honors went to Jennifer Atkinson in the Honors Division as she led the team with 5,258 points.
