Knox and Winamac License Branches Change Hours

Knox License Branch

Officials at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced that the Knox and Winamac license branches will have new hours of operation beginning Monday, February 28th.

The Knox License Branch will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. The Winamac License Branch will be open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.

Customers needing to conduct business with the BMV without visiting a license branch can visit this website or visit a BMV partner location. Some transactions can also be completed by phone through the BMV Customer Service Center at (888) 692-6841.

Graig Lubsen, Deputy Communications Director for the Indiana BMV, told WKVI that the BMV is starting to pair license branches to help free branch staff for more complicated transactions. The staff will not change. The Knox staff will be traveling to Winamac on Tuesdays and Thursday to help customers.

Lubsen said due to the convenience of the Internet, most transactions are being done online, such as driver’s license renewals, registration renewals and duplicate titles. He said branches see fewer customers all the time. Of the 13 million transactions last year, most were completed online. He hopes no layoffs will be made.

The Walkerton License Branch will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. Walkerton has combined with the Nappanee License Branch to provide service to customers.
