Culver Community School Corporation Mourns Death of High School Business Teacher

The Culver Community School Corporation is mourning the death of high school business teacher, Michael Schwartz. He passed away at the age of 57, Saturday, at his residence in Plymouth.

According to Principal Albert Hanselman, Schwartz was a avid sports fan who had attempted to visit every big league baseball park in his lifetime. He was a Dodgers fan, although he said the Cubs were his second favorite.

He was the gym announcer for all basketball games and was the volleyball coach. Mr. Schwartz provided color for the first volleyball game ever broadcast on WKVI.

Mr. Hanselman also said that Michael Schwartz was with the Business Professionals Association which won many State and National awards.

He is survived by his wife Donna and two children.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 17th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. ET at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Plymouth. Visitation is Thursday is one hour prior to services at the church. “For the love of Mike” service will be held Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. ET at the Culver High School Auditorium. Memorials may be given to BPA, c/o Culver High School, 701 School St., Culver, Indiana, 46511. The Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth is in charge of arrangements.
