Two Arrested in Knox on Methamphetamine Charges

Knox City Police Department officers arrested Matthew Blount, 23, of Wheatfield and Erica Bailey, 21, of Knox on methamphetamine related charges Wednesday night.

Knox City Police Department officers, along with Starke County Sheriff’s Department officers, were told that individuals at the Super Value Inn in room 110 were manufacturing methamphetamine inside the room. Knox officers arrived on scene and spoke to Matthew Blount. As officers were questioning Blount, a Starke County deputy observed Erica Bailey inside the room allegedly throwing a methamphetamine lab out the back window. Officers searched the room and found items to manufacture methamphetamine. The Indiana State Police Clandestine Team was called to clean up the crime scene.

As a result of the investigation, Matthew Blount was arrested and has preliminary charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession Precursors. Erica Bailey was arrested and has preliminary charges of Dumping Controlled Substance Waste and Possession of Precursors.

Knox City Police Chief, Clint Norem, wants to remind members of the public that if drug related activity is suspected in their neighborhood, contact local law enforcement.
