North Judson Town Board Approves First Reading of Synthetic Marijuana Ordinance

North Judson Town Board
North Judson Town Board: (L to R) Dan Anderson, Jane Ellen Felchuk, Wendy Hoppe, Connie Miller (Clerk-Treasurer)

The North Judson Town Board approved the first reading of an ordinance that prohibits the sale of synthetic marijuana within the incorporated town of North Judson. The ordinance mirrors the same guidelines as passed by the Starke County Commissioners. The Knox City Council has approved a similar ordinance on second reading and the final reading will be discussed at its meeting on Tuesday, December 14th.

The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was denied a grant to get a new tanker truck. Personnel from the fire department appeared before the Town Board and asked for approval to repair the 1985 tanker truck that they were going to replace. It will cost $9,428 for repairs and to have it completely refurbished, it will cost an additional $31,958. The truck will last another 10 years if it is completely refurbished. The Board will check with the Wayne Township Trustee to see if the total cost could be split with the Town as the Township’s contract with the Town states that they would help pay for repairs.
